Utah Birth Support Philosophy
- Pregnancy and birth are an experience of health, are normal, and are not illnesses. Birth almost always works best when the birthing woman is free from unwanted intervention and is able to listen and respond to her own body, without restriction.
- Education is vital and empowering. When the expectant family understands the process of pregnancy and birth, as well as the many benefits and risks of the choices that lay before them, they are free to act in confidence for thier own care.
 - Pregnancy and birth are a cultural event. Each family comes to birth with ideas and perceptions unique to themselves. Each woman deserves support and care no matter where she chooses to birth, how she chooses to birth, or how much pain medication or medical intervention she feels is best for her.
- Every birthing woman deserves care regardless of her ethnic background, the construct of her family, or her financial situation.
- Birth is a family event and effects all involved in the process. Every member of the family is of great value. Birth profoundly touches a family's heart and soul for the rest of their lives.
